Thank you for sharing in our passion for the fatherless.
And as always, if you or someone you know are interested in adoption, please email us or leave a comment here on our blog. We would love to walk alongside them and help them through this process.
* 2 of these wonderful children (no longer listed) have been adopted into their forever families!
James
Winning smile.
I have known this little boy
now for a year. He came to our city last winter by doctors who work alongside
children with HIV. He was thought to have HIV but later tests showed that he
did not. But he does have quite a bit of other medical issues going on. A
blessing being that HIV is not one of them. James is malnourished not because
of a lack in food but because of the lack of food he can keep down. He, at
unexpected moments, will throw up the food he eats before his body has any time
to absorb the nutrients. His legs are not getting any bigger or stronger. His
feet face outward. He was born with an Anorectal Malformation, which has been surgically corrected. He has several cysts on his
back up along his spine. We just celebrated his 2nd birthday last
month and he is still unable to walk and talk. But this boy is the happiest
child I’ve met. If I met China’s age requirements for single mothers he’d be
mine. (Jenna wrote this)
- Medical attention
- Permission for him to go to
Shanghai to remove the cysts on his back.
- He is not sleeping well.
Every time he is put in his crib he cries. He needs sleep but according to his
caretakers he doesn’t get enough.
- He is not gaining weight.
Little Jacob
Warrior. Smiling Eyes.
I am so impressed with this
guy. He has hands and feet and limbs that will not straighten. He physically
cannot move his limbs. His head is misshapen. He spends most of the day lying
on his back. He is so alert and constantly trying to be in on the action around
the room. He is very ticklish and loves to smile. He receives 3-4 massages a
day to stretch and strengthen his muscles hoping to straighten his limbs. He
likes to sit up after his massage to give his back a break and he tightened his
stomach muscles in hopes that he would stand. Jacob amazes me.
- Straightened limbs!
Peter
Fighter.
Peter is a prematurely born
baby. He was 4 months old and weighed 2 kilos (a little over 4 pounds) when he first
came to this foster home a month ago. Prior to coming he was battling for his life
in a local hospital, he had too much mucus in his chest and was unable to cough
anything up. He also has a deformity in his left hand (his “lucky” fin) where
only his thumb was fully developed. He has since gained 2.5 kilos and counting.
He smiles and, like all children, loves being held.
- A family
- Cleared lungs
- Continued weight gain
On a side note:
*(February 6, 2013) As of today, James and Nathaniel will be living at our home under our care for 2 weeks so their caretakers can take a nice long break for the Chinese New Year. This means 3 boys ages 2 1/12, 2, and 16 months all under one roof. Prayer for health for all of us, also for a fun time for the boys, that this time will be a benefit to them.
*(February 15, 2013) As of today, James and Nathaniel have returned to their foster home.
*(February 28, 2013/March 1, 2013) James has returned to the orphanage.
Please pray for these children.
